A successful sale starts at consignment.

Follow the steps below to ensure your horse has everything needed to be marketed at the highest level. Complete information, quality media, and accurate details allow our team to showcase your horse properly and maximize their success in the sale ring.

  • A Thorough Write Up - Tell your horse's story to your best ability. Be sure to include age, exact height, and breeding.

  • Quality Media - The best ads include pictures to back the story up. A good rule of thumb is 5 to 10 pictures for social media marketing. Please include at least one conformation shot for the catalog.

  • Sale Video - A video is not required for consignment, however, we strongly encourage all buyers to submit one. You can text video links to 605-770-5813. Please include the horse’s name and name of the consignor. If you need a vide made, please contact the sale office as our staff can help with that.

  • Complete Consignment Form - Please fill out the consignment form in its entirety. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted. The address entered will be where your check is sent to. If you would like the check to be mailed to a different address, please let us know at the time of check-in.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

At Corsica Horse Sale, all horses that are sold in our CATALOG SALE will be GUARANTEED SOUND until Monday Noon following the Saturday Sale. All open and loose horses sell AS IS, with no guarantees unless stated by the seller.

Contact our office with any concerns on horses purchased before deadline Monday at noon. 

Corsica Horse Sale considers sound to be the following definition:

  • The horse moves free of any limp or gait abnormality on all four legs as viewed by external examination. This does not include an extensive lameness exam with flexion test, x-rays, or ultrasound examination.

  • The horse can see out of both eyes

  • The horse does not crib (suck wind)

  • The horse does not weave

  • The horse is not proud cut

  • We do not accept any imaging as a form of unsoundness.

  • If selling a stud or mare as a Reproduction animal, we will require a vet letter stating that they are breeding sound.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • There is hay and water available for all horses on the property.

  • All horse’s in the catalog sale must be checked in no later than 12pm on Saturday.

  • All horses must be checked out at entrances with load-out sheet no exemptions.

  • Barn Riders are available if you are unable to ride your horse through the ring.

  • If you would like to have professional pictures and video taken of your horse, please contact the sale office at 605-770-5813 to be put in touch with one of the sale’s photographers.

  • ALL horses are required to be Coggins tested, including SD horses. Out-of-State horses are also required to bring a Health Certificate for State records.

  • COMMISSION 10%

  • PASS OUT/ NO SALE  FEE: $50.00

  • CATALOG FEE: $100.00 

  • UNCATALOG FEE: $50.00 

  • YARDAGE $10.00 A DAY

  • NO SHOW FEE: $250.00 "unless letter from vet exemption" 

  • VET INSPECTION FEE : $20.00 on every horse

  • COGGINS IN STATE HORSES: $40.00

  • COGGINS OUT OF STATE HORSES: $75.00

  • Barn riders are available for grooming and riding equines for $50.00 Our riders are very capable of riding all disciplines.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

ALL OUT-OF-STATE HORSES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A NEG. COGGINS TEST. In order to comply with State & Federal regulations, All OUT-OF-STATE horses are also required to have a Health Certificate.

Our Attending Veterinarian is available to write a Health Certificate for out of state Buyers.


We DO NOT allow horse trading on the premises or people selling dishonest horses.  We want to deal only with good people.

We ask all horses for the sale are here by no later then 1pm Saturday, horses that show up after and need a coggins will have a rush coggins charge. we accept horses all week.

We pull a coggins test on EVERY horse, this allows all our internet bidders and out of state buyers to leave with their horses right away, we have buyers from all over USA.

Please have your coggins done prior if out of state there isa $75.00 fee to pull out of state horse will be charged.

Please have your coggins done before coming.

If out of state pick up health paper (CVI) prior to leaving.

$40.00 for in state coggins.

There will also be a $20.00 vet inspect fee on every horse that sells.
