TERMS AND CONDITIONS
At Corsica Horse Sale, all horses that are sold in our CATALOG SALE will be GUARANTEED SOUND until Monday Noon following the Saturday Sale. All open and loose horses sell AS IS, with no guarantees unless stated by the seller.
Contact our office with any concerns on horses purchased before deadline Monday at noon.
-
Any announcements made in the sale ring take precedence over any printed material.
-
We have a 48hr soundness guarantee. If you buy your horse here, we guarantee them to be sound.
Our soundness guarantee is this:
• We guarantee them to hit the ground equally on all four limbs, not to limp or short step or gimp on any one of their four legs.
• We guarantee them to see equally out of both eyes, not to have anything in their eye that’s going to obstruct their vision.
• We guarantee the horses to not crib or weave or have any modern day bad stall habits.
• We guarantee the geldings to not have a high testosterone level still trying to breed mares.
We do not guarantee rideability or performance ability.
-
There is no need to take the horse to the veterinarian UNLESS you get him home and you think he’s limping, think he’s cribbing, or think he’s doing something that doesn’t match the guarantees.
Then:
• Call the office, Blake Thompson, or Justin Nalls
• Take a short video
• Send it to them
If you’re both in agreement — “yeah, that horse is limping” — then we will determine:
• Is it minor? (abscess, bruise, etc.)
• Or is it a major problem?
If it is a major problem, you will be handed your money back and the horse will be handed right back to the consignor.
We don’t have a lot of problems, and the guys here do a wonderful job at solving problems and fixing them if any do arise. If you do your part, we can guarantee we’ll do ours.
-
If you think you have a problem, you must contact the office, Blake Thompson, or Justin Nalls within the 48hr time window
We know many buyers live out of state. You don’t have 48hrs to get the horse back here. You have 48hrs to bring the problem to our attention.
If you bring the problem to our attention within the 48hr window, and it takes an additional 72hrs to get the horse to the vet and sort it out, we will give you the time to sort the problem out.
Do not wait three, four, or five days to call. By that time, funds may already be released and checks mailed, and there is less we can do.
-
We highly recommend you show up a day early. Look at the horses. Shop the horses. We can’t encourage you enough to shop the horses and make certain that you’re comfortable with that horse prior to him coming into the auction ring. This is a consignment sale and the horses are pre consigned. Contact the consignors to ask questions. We encourage you to know which horse you want to buy before the sale starts. If you are an impulse buyer, we appreciate you too, but we highly encourage you to shop the horses and know what you’re bidding on before you raise your hand.
If a veterinarian opinion is of high importance to you, if you can’t look at the horse yourself, judge the horse yourself, and tell if he’s sound enough to suit your needs, that is a prepurchase exam situation. Under no circumstances do you dare sit there, buy a horse, haul him straight to your vet, and say, “hey, tell me if this horse is sound.”
If you need that vet’s opinion (and a lot of us do, and we understand that for what horses cost today you want a veterinary opinion), please do a prepurchase on that horse.
-
Make sure you make arrangements and settle up in the office before leaving.
We accept:
• Cash
• Checks
• Credit cards
• Wire transfers
-
• Check your paperwork
• Look at your horses
• Make sure the horses look good before they go in the trailer
• Make sure your papers match your horse
• Make sure everything is in order
Do your due diligence, and we will do ours.
-
Do not remove the hip tags from your horses. There will be someone at the gate checking paperwork, and you must have a receipt showing you’ve paid for your purchases before leaving.
-
All horses must be removed by 11:00 AM Monday.
If you need to leave your horse longer, that is not a problem, but you will be charged a stall fee.
-
If, at the fall of the hammer and the auctioneer says “sold,” and you do not wish to take that price, simply say, “no sale, I don’t want to take that for my horse.” We will PO the horse, no-sale him, and let him out the gate.
If someone follows you back to your stall and buys your horse:
• You must process the sale through the sale office
• We cannot guarantee funds if you take a personal check from someone you don’t know
• Bringing it through the office ensures a bonded, licensed check and the same guarantee as if sold in the ring
Consignors must leave a halter for their horse.
